February in Overview

Excited about...
It's hard to imagine being excited about school when you've been enjoying a too-short break. And, frankly, I'm not sure what else is going on in my life right now. I'm just happy if I can earn some money, create some illustrations and eat good food next month. I'm hoping to meet some friends, online or otherwise. Hopefully it will kick my creative juices flowing.

Currently reading...
Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano + Generation Green by Linda & Tosh Siversten. Remember what I planned for February? Well, I needed to do some research first. Yes, it's safe to assume that my zero-waste life is not yet in effect. To be honest, both these books were bought when I was in high school or so. The latter I have finished years ago, but I wanted to brush up again. I remember liking the book so much back then, but it turns out to not be a good fit for me now. The previous, however, did not leave a good impression on 15-year-old me...and it's not really making a tremendous one on 23-year-old me either. However, I did learn a lot and I'm just trying to take in the positive.

Currently watching...
This TEDx Talk about money. It opened my eyes to the way younger generations—I say that like I'm not part of this group—see the concept of money. It shocks me to find out how oblivious little children and teenagers are to its limitation. Suddenly it is clear why the world is f*cked up right now, why the ozone grows thinner by the minute and why trash is growing by the second. But I love the $10,000 experiment being played out here, it's inspired and proves that hope is not yet lost. We can still create a change.

Listening to...
Lost Stars by Adam Levine. It's not a new song, I know, but for some reason it's been stuck in my head only recently. It is a tremendous song—from, what I take, is a tremendous movie, which (I'm sorry!) I haven't watched from beginning to end. The lyrics, I think, can resonate so much with everyone in their 20s—or probably longer—where we are just looking for our way through life and meaning in everything we do. Although, to be honest, the Keira Knightley version is more my cup of tea.

Thinking about...
De-cluttering my space (and, ultimately, my life). Some time off school and routine gives me the chance to really think about what matters in this world. It's so easy to get caught up in and worked up about the tiniest of unnecessary things. But in hindsight, these things don't matter as much and I waste too much energy trying to change what I can't. So I hope next month I will be able to clear things off my life and hold on to only what matters.

Last final project of the semester (it's drawing class) // the rain is getting to me  :'( // digital painting practice (three cool girls from my class in Kassel) // Galantines Day with my peeps // Kawaii illustration workshop with Kamo-sensei // another gorgeous letter from Saku-chan // reunited with the Germany gang (minus Firu) // it's Papa's birthday! (on the 24th) // catching up with high school buds (of course, Cynthia)
