Rose Lemon Squash

Ah, summer~ It's finally here. When the temperature rises, the sun scorches and the flowers bloom, refreshing beverages are the way to go. For me, lemon has always done the trick. Be it lemonade, lemon tea or whatever else, if it has lemon in it, you can bet i'll go for it. Lemon squash is one that I tend to make at home the most. Usually, it's made by using lemon juice and soda water (or sprite, really) and it's done. But I thought it would be interesting to put a twist on my favourite beverage. It's super easy to make, very refreshing and absolutely eye-catching. Man, I can already imagine myself chilling by the pool with this drink in hand. Though, to be honest, this is an all-year-round drink on this part of the world—if it's not raining.

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp. red syrup (mine was cocopandan)
  • 300 ml soda water
  • water (optional)
  1. First and foremost, squeeze the lemon and pour the juice into a glass
  2. Add in the syrup
  3. Pour the soda water into the glass
  4. Best served chilled!
Tips: Here's a trick to get the most juice out of your lemon: let it sit outside the fridge until it is room temperature and roll it around on the table while pushing it down a little bit. You can add the syrup before or after the soda, it doesn't change the taste—though you may need to stir it if you add it after. Jellies would be a great condiment for the beverage. You can fill only half the glass with soda and the other half with water if you don't like soda very much. Lass es euch schmecken!
