My Closet is Going on Holiday!

It's a week before Christmas! I'm not celebrating so I couldn't care less but, with it, comes the holiday. And with the holiday, comes the chance to sit back, relax and get away from everyday routine. That is exactly what I'm going to be doing. So! I would just like to remind you that my closet store will be closed until next year. I will accept orders until December 20th 04.30 PM GMT+1 and ship them the next day at the latest. The store will most likely be opened again on January 11th, when I will be adding new items as well, so stay tuned! In the mean time, please feel free to take a look around and make a purchase as you please.

Monday (Almost-All) Blues

Okay, you caught me: I'm jealous with all the snow some other parts of the world are getting. Winter always brings sunless skies, shorter days, colder weather and numb fingers. All the snow makes up for it, though. Too bad there isn't any right now. Anyway, sorry for the shortage of photos. My fingers were starting to lose their senses so I had to hurry it up. Plus, it might not be evident here but the wind was blowing rather wildly and froze my teeth. The other day, I went to an outfit swap party held by the student council. Yes, student council! Do I go to the best university or what? It was insane! More people than I expected came and there were some really cool items. The night before an exam too. Ha! Tomorrow's the last presentation I have for the semester. After that, I am free to do whatever I want. I cannot believe this weekend I will be seeing Firu already. So excited! I hope it snows by Saturday.

Oh yeah, still sticking to season-appropriate outfits. Winter means blue, specifically navy. That is why this outfit today is covered mostly in navy. Though my favourite colour is orange, when it comes to clothes, navy dominates my closet. I have four dresses, three skirts, a coat, a blazer and several tops in this colour. So it's not hard to stick with the theme, I guess. Nothing I wear here is new, they were all acquired at least a month ago. Oh yeah, in case you don't already know, I won the Fashion to Any giveaway over at Kittenhood sometime ago. After picking out a couple items that I fell in love with - trust me, I wanted so many more -, I sent in my order and it just got dispatched last Friday. Totally, completely and absolutely excited to have them already. They should be here by Christmas. Please look forward to that because I have nothing more to say, outfit-wise.

Mix It Up a Notch: Yellow Varsity Jacket

Last autumn I was struck with a varsity jacket fever. Well, actually, I was struck by it since spring but never managed to find a jacket that suited me until the autumn. This little number was found on the children's section of 1982. It's been serving me quite well the past several months. It has done its job quite well as a replacement for my beloved navy jacket - which got lost when I moved to Kassel. It's not so thick that I can still wear indoor but also thick enough to suffice as an outer layer sometimes. Plus, yellow is one of my favourite colours and it brings out such a cheery side of me. I understand the trend has died down now but I still love the structure of this jacket. And, seeing as I'm not American, having an authentic varsity jacket is nearly impossible. I'd settle for the next best thing.

Brick By Boring Brick

There's this house that I see everyday on the way to campus. Okay, I don't actually go pass it or anything. But it's on a tangent to my way to class. It stands on such a strategic location. It stands tall majestically in a fork on the road. It's so majestic that when you look at it through an intersection way across the street, it would jump into view and smack you in the head. It looks like one of those houses with mystical possibilities and quirky dwellers - you know, like the one from A Series of Unfortunate Events. It has all these neogothic elements as well as beautiful rustications. I can't get enough of rustication. The architecture looks like that of a gothic church - especially those two windows at the very top. My favourite part is the huge glass windows at the corner there. I can imagine myself living there, sipping tea whilst looking at the (probably) striking view on misty mornings. The skylight must have been added during the late 20th century or early 21st century, which adds a lot more luxury and zen-like feel. Oh man, wish I could live here. But, for now, I should be happy just looking at this breathtaking view every time I pass it by - which happens a lot.

This is something that most bloggers probably won't tell ya: wearing a cape isn't practical at all. In fact, it's the exact opposite of that. One, it doesn't let you hang your bags over your shoulders - aside from under it. Two, you don't know what to do with your hands. Sure, there are armholes. But if you're not wearing long sleeves, your arms will be freezing when you put your hands in the pockets. And, worst of all, they let the winds come in from below. Don't get me wrong, though. I love this cape! Sadly, it's not a winter wear so this might just be the last time I can wear it until next year. It's so pretty, I'm not sure I can let go. Also, lately I've been wearing stuff that I've thrifted and realised...maybe most items in my closet are thrifted now. I barely ever go to clothing stores anymore - well, at least not to purchase stuff anyway - and I spend my money mostly in thrift stores and flea markets. They have some real unique items there. Who can say no to that? The story behind each item is an added bonus.

An Infinite Realm of Dreams

Nowadays it is no longer impossible to create a world of dreams thanks to the invention of technology. Photo manipulation and CGI make it possible to create alternate universes just with ideas and probably shots of the real world. Of course, the only downside is that we forget sometimes that mankind has created endless numbers of surreal worlds before all the Photoshops and digital editing methods have even been invented. That is what Jee Young Lee managed to do in her studio. Believe it or not, these photos were not photoshopped and created in a small space (3.6 x 4.1 x 2.4 metres). Some of these scenes came from her own experiences and dreams, while the rest comes from Korean folktales and legends. My favourite would have to be the "Maiden Voyage."
